This year our new developed bamboo fiber products are welcomed  by customers and it becomes  more and more popuar in this market.

The traditional rough processing of bamboo and wood is difficult to bring substantial increment to the bamboo industry. Under this background, as a “science and technology” intensive and deep processing material of bamboo, bamboo fiber, a new environmental protection material, is becoming the most potential and influential product in the bamboo processing industry and bamboo industry, which can greatly improve the utilization rate of bamboo.

Bamboo fiber

Bamboo fiber preparation technology involves the cross fields of physics, chemistry, biology, machinery, textile, composite materials and so on. For example, bamboo winding, Reconstituted Bamboo, bamboo steel and other building materials products, also known as bamboo based fiber composites, are essentially bamboo fiber composites, and bamboo fiber is the raw material of all bamboo composite products.

Bamboo fiber is a cellulose fiber extracted from natural bamboo. Bamboo fiber has the characteristics of good air permeability, instantaneous water absorption, strong wear resistance and good dyeing. It has the functions of natural antibacterial, bacteriostatic, mite removal, deodorization and UV resistance.

Bamboo fiber is divided into bamboo raw fiber and bamboo pulp fiber (including bamboo Lyocell fiber and bamboo viscose fiber). The industrial development started late and the overall scale is small. China’s bamboo fiber production enterprises in Hebei, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Sichuan and other places have successively developed all kinds of new bamboo fibers and their blended series fabrics and clothing products. In addition to domestic sales, the products are exported to Japan and South Korea.

Bamboo fiber fabric

Natural bamboo fiber (bamboo raw fiber) is a new environmental friendly fiber material, which is different from chemical bamboo viscose fiber (bamboo pulp fiber and bamboo charcoal fiber). It is a natural fiber directly separated from bamboo by mechanical and physical silk separation, chemical or biological degumming and carding. It is the fifth largest natural fiber after cotton, hemp, silk and wool.

Bamboo raw fiber has excellent performance. It can not only replace glass fiber, viscose fiber, plastic and other chemical materials, but also has the characteristics of green environmental protection, renewable raw materials, low pollution, low energy consumption and degradability. It can be widely used in textile industries such as spinning, weaving, nonwovens and non-woven fabrics, as well as the production fields of composite materials such as vehicles, building plates, furniture and sanitary products.

At present, bamboo fiber is widely used in downstream applications such as medium and high-end clothing, home textiles, high elastic soft cushion materials, industrial textiles, tableware supplies, bamboo pulp paper and so on. Textile industry and papermaking are its main application fields.

textile industry

China’s textile industry is developing rapidly. The annual output of synthetic fiber accounts for 32% of the global output. Synthetic fiber is made from oil and natural gas through the spinning and post-processing of synthetic polymer compounds. However, with the development of green economy and the emergence of environmental friendly and high-quality bamboo fiber, it meets the requirements of the transformation and development of the current traditional textile industry. The development of bamboo fiber series products can not only fill the gap of the shortage of new textile materials, but also alleviate the insufficient dependence on import supply of chemical fiber products, which has a good market prospect.

Previously, China has launched a series of bamboo fiber products including all bamboo, bamboo cotton, bamboo hemp, bamboo wool, bamboo silk, bamboo Tencel, bamboo Lycra, blended silk, woven and yarn dyed. It is understood that bamboo fibers in the textile field are divided into natural bamboo fibers and recycled bamboo fibers.

Among them, recycled bamboo fiber includes bamboo pulp viscose fiber and bamboo Lyocell fiber. The pollution of recycled bamboo fiber is serious. Bamboo Lyocell fiber is known as “Tencel” in the textile industry. The fabric has the advantages of high strength, high backtracking rate, high temperature resistance and good stability, and is listed as one of the key projects of bio based chemical fiber industrialization engineering during the 13th Five Year Plan period. The future development of textile field should focus on the development and utilization of bamboo Lyocell fiber.

For example, with people’s higher and higher requirements for home textile products, bamboo fiber has been applied in bedding, plant fiber mattress, towel and so on; The potential demand for bamboo fiber cushion materials in the mattress field exceeds 1 million tons; Bamboo fiber textile fabrics are positioned as medium and high-end clothing fabrics in the market. It is estimated that the retail sales of high-end clothing in China will reach 252 billion yuan in 2021. If the penetration rate of bamboo fiber in the field of high-end clothing reaches 10%, the potential market scale of bamboo fiber clothing products is expected to approach 30 billion yuan in 2022.

Papermaking field

This year our bamboo fiber products including cleaning cloth, sponge scrubber and dish mat for its  eco friendly and other unique features.

The application products of bamboo fiber in papermaking field are mainly bamboo pulp paper. The main chemical components of bamboo include cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin, and the content of bamboo fiber is up to 40%. After removing lignin, the remaining bamboo fibers containing cellulose and hemicellulose have strong weaving ability, high softness and high paper strength.

For the paper industry, wood is an excellent raw material for paper making. However, China’s forest coverage is far lower than the global average of 31%, and the per capita forest area is only 1 / 4 of the world’s per capita level. Therefore, bamboo pulp papermaking helps to alleviate the contradiction of wood shortage in China’s pulp and paper industry and protect the ecological environment. At the same time, with the improvement of bamboo pulp papermaking technology, it can also alleviate the pollution problem of traditional papermaking industry.

China’s bamboo pulp production is mainly distributed in Sichuan, Guangxi, Guizhou, Chongqing and other regions, and the output of bamboo pulp in the four provinces accounts for more than 80% of the country. China’s bamboo pulp production technology is becoming more and more mature, and the output of bamboo pulp is increasing. The data show that the domestic output of bamboo pulp was 2.09 million tons in 2019. China Commercial Industry Research Institute predicts that the output of bamboo pulp in China will reach 2.44 million tons in 2021 and 2.62 million tons in 2022.

At present, bamboo enterprises have successively launched a series of brand bamboo pulp paper such as “banbu Babo” and “vermei”, so that consumers can gradually accept the process of changing household paper from “white” to “yellow”.

Commodity field

Bamboo fiber tableware is a typical representative of the application of bamboo fiber in the field of daily necessities. Through the modification of bamboo fiber and processing and molding in a certain proportion with thermosetting plastic, the prepared bamboo fiber reinforced thermosetting plastic has the dual advantages of bamboo and plastic. In recent years, it has been widely used in the production of daily necessities such as catering appliances. China has developed into the world’s largest country in the production and consumption of bamboo fiber tableware.

At present, most bamboo fiber commodity enterprises are mainly concentrated in East China, such as Zhejiang, Fujian, Anhui, Guangxi and other provinces, especially Lishui, Quzhou and Anji in Zhejiang Province and Sanming and Nanping in Fujian Province. The bamboo fiber products industry has developed rapidly, has begun to take shape, and continues to develop towards branding and scale. However, bamboo fiber daily necessities still account for only a part of the market share of the daily necessities market, and there is still a long way to go in the future.
